The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a unit providing acute care for adult and geriatric critically ill medical patients. The multidisciplinary staff is highly collaborative and supportive, working together to achieve the best patient outcomes possible. The care is directed by pulmonary intensivists who specialize in critical care medicine.

The Medical Intensive Care Unit provides care to the critically ill with conditions related to:

  • Kidney problems
  • Liver problems
  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Diseases of the blood
  • Cancer problems
  • Blood infections
Critical care units at Kare Partners Hospital are directed and staffed by the hospital’s division of pulmonary and critical care medicine. The MICU is a closed unit; the physicians and nurses on staff in the MICU do not rotate to other units in the hospital. The MICU’s highly skilled staff members are certified in critical care medicine and distinguished by their expertise and experience in the field. A team of MD Medicine / Chest Physician / Critical Care Specialists comprise team MICU
